Gen. Morgan Bridge Project

After years of planning, the General Morgan Bridge construction is starting.  This website will be one of your sources of information for the duration of the project.  You may also call (610) 769-5869 for updated information. 

Week of October 27 - 31, 2008

Traffic Impacts: Long term traffic detour in effect at PA 873/Main Street Bridge in Slatington

The Rails-to-Trails bicycle and walking path remain closed at the structure location.

Temporary shuttle service for pedestrians in effect. Two full size buses continue to operate from 6:15 AM -7:30 AM and 2:00 PM -3:00 PM Mondays thru Fridays. All schedules are subject to change depending upon student and other traffic.

Traffic is flowing well at the intersections and in the town of Slatington, with some delays during peak times.

Anticipated/Completed Work Activities:

* All bridge deck pouring is complete;
* Approach slab #1 concrete has been placed;
* Continue grading sub-base, setting forms and placing concrete for roadway;
* Continue to work on sidewalk grading and form setting;
* Continue work on highway lighting foundations;
* Continue to set steel and forms for bridge deck parapets (walls);
* Anticipate a bridge opening ceremony December 12.
